What is the CLD Standards Council for Scotland?

The Standards Council for Community Learning and Development for Scotland is the professional body for those working in community learning and development.

Our Core Responsibilities

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning has directed the CLD Standards Council to:

  • Deliver a professional approvals structure for qualifications, courses and development opportunities for everyone involved in CLD
  • Consider and establish a registration system available to practitioners delivering and active in CLD practice
  • Develop and establish a model of supported induction, CPD and training opportunities


Framework agreement

A new framework agreement between CLD Standards Council and Education Scotland was put in place in April 2016. The new framework agreement sets out the strategic goals, roles and responsibilities of both organisations whilst accounting for operational requirements. Read the full framework agreement.
