MEMBER MEET-UP: Get Growing in Your Community: Connecting People, Nature and Place

Book event

Hosted by GrowGreen Scotland, join this Member Meet-up to discover how community growing can transform local spaces, strengthen connections, and create opportunities for learning, wellbeing and community action. In this inspiring and practical session, we will explore how growing projects can bring people together, connect communities with nature, and support greater engagement with local food and environmental sustainability.

Through a Community Learning and Development (CLD) lens, participants will gain insight into the many ways communities can get involved in growing activities, from shared gardens and food-growing initiatives to skill-sharing and volunteer-led projects. The session will highlight the vital role that community workers, volunteers and local champions can play in supporting and sustaining these activities, regardless of their horticultural experience.

Attendees will learn why a CLD approach is essential to the success of community growing projects, hear practical tips for getting started with limited resources, and explore how collaborative working can help ensure every community has the opportunity to grow and thrive.

The session will include an informal and informative presentation followed by an open discussion and Q&A, providing plenty of opportunities to share ideas, ask questions and be inspired to take action to help your own community flourish.
