Response to Consultation on Proposed Changes to SSSC Registration Requirements
The CLD Standards Council has submitted a response to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) consultation on proposed changes to registration requirements. As the professional body for Community Learning and Development (CLD) in Scotland, we recognise the importance of contributing to discussions on professional registration, workforce standards and public confidence across related professions.
While the consultation focuses on the social services workforce, many of the issues raised, including professional recognition, qualification pathways, continuing professional learning, workforce mobility and accountability, are of significant interest to the CLD sector. Our response highlights opportunities for greater collaboration between professional bodies and reflects our commitment to ensuring that professional frameworks remain accessible, proportionate, and supportive of workforce development.
The consultation also provides an opportunity to share learning across professions at a time when the future recognition and development of the CLD workforce is an active area of discussion in Scotland. Through our response, we have sought to bring the perspective of CLD practitioners to these important conversations and to advocate for coherent, supportive approaches to professional standards and registration across related sectors.
