Becoming a Member of CLD Standards Council Scotland is a commitment to professional excellence. It demonstrates your dedication to delivering high-quality CLD practice, guided by the sector's Values, Principles, Competences and Code of Ethics.
Membership recognises your commitment to continuing professional learning and to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and communities across Scotland.
Anyone who can demonstrate this commitment through their practice is eligible to join as either an Associate Member or Registered Member, depending on their qualifications and experience.

Who can join CLD Standards Council?

Anyone working or volunteering in Community Learning & Development in Scotland can join.
Membership is free.
You renew your membership every 3 years.

There are 2 routes to membership…

Registered Member
For those with a CLD Standards Council Recognised qualification at degree level or above.

Associate Member
For those without a CLD Standards Council Recognised Qualification at Degree level or above, but who are working or volunteering in CLD.
Also for those studying qualifications.

All members are listed on the CLD Standards Council Public Register.

How much Professional Learning do I need to do?
The amount per year is based on the hours of CLD practice you undertake per week:

Part-time? E.g. 6 hours per week = 6 hours per year of Professional Learning

Full-time? 35 hours of Professional Learning per year.
