Professional learning and development will be integral to CLD practice in all sectors and settings, and will be used creatively to enhance the quality and impact of practice.

Standards

Work with the field and learning providers to maintain and develop the suite of recognised courses at development and professional levels and the Standards Council Standards Mark (SCSM)
Promote the SCSM, support employers to apply, work with then to review standards and ensure that it continues to be fit for purpose
Promote high standard in professional and development learning programmes through the approvals process

Partnership

Support shared professional learning
Promote the strategy, action framework and i-Develop to a widening network of organisations and individual practitioners
Support sharing of experience in professional learning and development
Work with CLD practitioners and partners to ensure practitioners have access to accessible, up-to-date learning and development opportunities, led by the interests, needs and aspirations or practitioners.

Strategy

Advise on planning for professional development
Engage with employers to promote support for professional development and registration by their staff
Use improved workforce data to promote the CLD learning culture
Encourage partners, employers and practitioners to use the Growing Learning Culture

Membership

Develop and promote a framework for induction adaptable for all posts with a CLD role
Promote the Registration scheme to CLD practitioners and employers and recruit members from all sectors and settings
Facilitate active involvement by members in shaping the learning culture

Every CLD student needs a great practice placement. They’ll also talk about the Professional Practice Placement Standards for students, placement providers, and learning institutions, which support everyone to have a great placement experience.
