Wellbeing and Sustainability Bill Response submitted August 2025

CLD plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of national policy and legislation related to community engagement, empowerment, and learning. It contributes significantly to individual and community growth, while also enhancing the effectiveness of wider public services. Our member practitioners are deeply involved in supporting outcomes such as climate action, sustainability, local capacity building, literacies development, and active citizenship, all of which contribute to improved health, wellbeing, and economic resilience. Because of this we were interested in the Wellbeing and Sustainable Development Bill which was open consultation in August 2025, as we felt it was of significant interest to our members—particularly those working in community development roles. Sarah Boyack MSP attend a “Have Your Say” session with members and from this we gathered members insights and views to develop our submission to the Bill consultation.
