EDI Member Forum: Exploring and Enhancing the CLD Anti-Racism Toolkit – Wednesday 14 January 2026 9.30-11am
Earlier this year, the CLD Standards Council launched an online Anti-Racism Toolkit on i-Develop.
Come and join us at the next Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) members forum where we will kindly be joined by colleagues from the CLD team at Education Scotland.
During this informal session you will have the opportunity to:
- Explore some resources in relation to improving understanding of racial literacy and anti-racist practice
- Enquire how your CLD provision may consider how race and ethnicity may impact on CLD learners and provision
- Reflect on your own understanding and knowledge in relation to racial literacy
A greater understanding of these important and sensitive areas can support our work with learners and communities. As always, we aim for this to be a safe, inclusive and positive space for CLD practitioners to share expertise, ask questions and develop knowledge to inform practice. All links, presentations and resources will be available for you to access on our ED&I i-develop group after the session.
EDI Member Forum: Racial Literacy & CLD – An introduction – Monday 26 January 1-3pm
Join us for our next ED&I Members Forum, where we will focus on the vital topic of racial literacy by introducing and exploring practical ways to strengthen anti-racist practice within Community Learning and Development (CLD).
We are delighted to welcome colleagues from the CLD team at Education Scotland, who will co-deliver this session with Vikki Carpenter from CLD Standards Council, sharing insights and resources to support your professional learning.
This informal and interactive EDI session offers you the opportunity to:
- Discover and explore resources designed to deepen understanding of racial literacy and anti-racist approaches.
- Reflect on your own practice and knowledge, considering how race and ethnicity may influence CLD learners and provision.
- Discuss and enquire about strategies for embedding racial literacy into your CLD work.
By developing a greater understanding of these important and sensitive areas, we can strengthen our ability to work effectively with learners and communities.
As always, this forum is intended to be a safe, inclusive, and positive space for CLD practitioners to:
- Share expertise
- Ask questions
- Build confidence and knowledge to inform practice

EDI Member Forum: 16 days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence – Tuesday 24 February 11am-1pm
Hosted by the Improvement Service, this session will focus on how the toolkit is developed and used in Scotland, and will provide examples of local campaigns and ongoing work to prevent and end violence against women and girls.
We’ll discuss learning and examples from the 16 Days campaign 2025 with such as key messages from the spotlight webinar events and local campaign highlights
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that starts on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
Over the last 5 years, The National Violence Against Women Network have developed an annual toolkit of resources for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence across Scotland. The toolkit includes resources such as digital logos for campaign materials, graphics and animations on key statistics, and template resources such as a communications schedule and prompt cards on a chosen theme. This toolkit and collective activity supports the programme of events carried out by local Violence Against Women Partnerships and other organisations/community groups, bringing together people across Scotland to stand against violence against women and girls (VAWG) and call for action.
