Post-School Education and Skills Reform Legislation Consultation Response Report – September 2024

As part of the Education Reform, Scottish Government consulted on proposals for legislation to change what public bodies do in the post-school system in order to simplify responsibilities for apprenticeships and student support. It also looked at the governance of the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) specifically regarding its board and amending the 2005 Act, as well as proposals for enhanced SFC functions. These changes aim to simplify responsibilities for apprenticeships and student support and they need legislation. They are just one part of the post-school education and skills reform programme, which includes: changing the way we do skills planning; improving our apprenticeship offer and national careers service; and enhancing student support.

The CLD Standards Council submitted a response to the consultation, focusing on post school education landscape with regards to the needs of the individuals and communities we support, as well as highlighting the role and responsibilities of CLD as a sector.
