Community Benefits from Net Zero Energy Developments consultation April 2025

This Community benefits from Net zero energy developments consultation is part of a Scottish Government review of the Good Practice Principles for onshore and offshore renewable energy and seeks to ensure that the guidance they offer helps communities and developers get the best from community benefits. Community benefits are additional benefits, that are currently voluntary, which developers provide to the “community”, and which sit independently of the planning and consenting system. Their aim is to provide an opportunity for communities to share in the benefits of the energy resource and support lasting social and economic impacts.

The CLD Standards Council consulted with CLD practitioner members to form this written response, using an online questionnaire based on the Scottish Governments online consultation survey. This report provides high-level experiential evidence and analysis of the feedback received from CLD practitioners across the sector. The report was submitted to the Scottish Government on the 4th April 2025 on behalf of the membership.
