Between April and July 2020, the CLDSC invited CLD practitioners to share their experiences of the pandemic, lockdown and initial re-opening. The 4 waves of the survey gathered information and examples on how CLD practice was being utilised to support individuals and communities in meeting the challenges they faced.
Our report on the survey highlights how CLD practitioners have utilised their professional, transferable skills and knowledge to identify, engage and support people, learners and communities who are most in need, developing their own digital skills and confidence along the way. However, not all CLD practitioners have been deployed in ways that supported these roles, and respondents argued the need for wider recognition of CLD to secure effective support for communities. The report also identifies important issues over the well-being of practitioners and the need for decision-makers to value them appropriately.
